I have a couple of laptops on my network with docking stations.

When connected to the docking station, they work fine. But when they are
not, the users tell me it takes forever for the desktop to finally appear
(several min.)

How do I configure it so when it is not docked and connected to the network,
to where it works normally??

You might try setting up 2 different Hardware Profiles, one for docked
use and one for "undocked". In the "undocked" state the laptop is
probably looking for hardware that isn't present and trying to start
unnecessary services.

Thanks for you r reply

That is kinda what I was thinking, BUT, how do I tell it not to look for
this other stuff when it is not docked?

Disable unneeded devices for the Hardware Profile in the Device Manager
and check for unneeded services that start at boot. Should be all kinds
of information on that on the Microsoft.com site.

According to teh event log, it keeps trying to run various login scripts and
that it can not contact teh Domain controller and the GPO process is being
abourted.
How can I tell it not to try to locate or run scripts when undocked? The
only stuff I see on the microsoft site is about removeing stuff from teh
hardware list.

Just log into the pc locally, don't even try to log into the domain. That's
what's making it take so long to boot. Previous advice about another
hardware profile is good.
