laptop's dvd drive problem

I need your help.I recently installed on my laptop a DVD
drive,but when I try to use it to play a dvd it returns a
small blue screen then restarts the computer.What could be
the problem

What DVD software are you using to play the DVDs?
Have you tried reinstalling the software package you are using to Play the
DVDs?

Does the DVD drive read Data DVD/CDs?

You should turn off the "Automatically Restart" for System Failures (Control
Panel -> System -> Advanced -> Startup and Recovery Settings -> Uncheck the
"Automatically Restart" checkbox) and/or see what is written to your Event
Log ( http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=308427 ) when it reboots. That
will give you (or us) a better understanding of what is going on when your
laptop decides it just cannot handle it and reboots. heh
