Laptop, XP and mice

Hello. I might get a new laptop this fall, with Windows XP Home Edition. If I later decided to get a standard USB scroll-button mouse, would I need to install any drivers from a CD-ROM to get it to work, or would XP automatically install the necessary drivers?
 
If it is USB XP should automatically find it.

It depends but in most cases, xp installs it automaticly and after a
few seconds (even without restart - usb) the mouse will become
functional.
Even if xp wouldnt be able to install the driver, you'll probably get
one with the mouse...
