I have a Dell laptop into which I just installed a Linksys wirelss PC card. The machine boots and operates fine with the PC Card in the slot. Once the PC card is removed though the laptop will not boot. It hangs part way through. I uninstalled the device as a first step and when I did, I got a warning that the device I was uninstalling (the wirelss PC card) was required in order for the machine to boot(?!?) Why? I successfully removed the device and the machine boots fine. Anyone know why this happened? And what can I do to reinstall the PC card but have the machine boot with or without it in the slot

Thanks

John

May be worth checking with the folks at Linksys on this one ..

Hope this is useful to you. Let us know.

Yes, checked with Linsys -- thanks. Their ususal fairly-competent tech support was not so in this case. They first theorized that the computer was infected with a virus (nonsense) and then only could recommend uninstalling the card (which I did.) This part is recounted in my original post, but doesn't really help me with the problem of getting the card running properly. Basically, Linksys says they have never seen this problem before.

Humm... at the moment I can't think of anything ... I have a Linksys
card and don't see this problem. I am wondering how to tell what is
different.

Hope this is useful to you. Let us know.
