Laptop to HDTV. Wirelessly

I would like to use my laptop with a HDTV but without wires. Currently my
laptop can access a printer via a small Linksys printer server. Is it
possible to make a similar access from my laptop to my HDTV?

I don't do wireless but HDTV requires a steady 20 megabits/second.
This is trivial for Cat 5.

Another article stated the reach was 25 feet, which isn't very far. And
that would be without physical barriers. And some day, there could be
interference from lots of other UWB devices.

How convenient a product like that is, really depends on what connectors
your laptop has on the back. VGA would spoil the fun.

There are some products that use the 5GHz band, but the available
resolution is not very high. One product required a radio license
and was intended for commercial applications.

Access yes, watchable HD picture no. Cat5 works. Have seen netwoking that
uses A/C house wiring that should have enough bandwidth. Don't recall anyone
saying they used it though. Linksys and IIRC NetGear &/or DLink make them.
Doesn't eliminate wires but they don't have to be run through walls. Just to
outlets. Then an HD network media player is needed to send the video to the
HDTV.

Having NAS in the system is great too. Even with a desktop PC let alone a
laptop. HD is ~8GB/HR.

You can certainly use your laptop via wireless to an HDTV server and play
the HDTV program on the laptop display, or you can use your laptop as an
HDTV DVR and play hdtv programs on it or an external monitor connected to
the laptop, but I don't think you'll be able to connect the monitor
wirelessly. And to be honest, I dont know why you would want to. If you
want wireless control of the TV, use a wireless KB or Ir remote.

It would be easier to use wires between the two, placing the lap
top in your media cabinet or otherwise out of sight. To
operate, get a USB (or Bluetooth) wireless KB mouse/trackball.
I did this for several months via the laptop's second monitor
VGA output before properly configuring small footprint PCs to
connect with the HD displays.

To resume using the laptop as a portable simply disconnect the
VGA cable and remove the transceiver. I still use the same
wireless KB/TB devices to operate the permanent PCs.
