i have a bizarre catastrophic error :

without warning my laptop instantly shuts off and starts rebooting -- as if
i'd performed a hard reboot

on restart system event log shows following :

source: system error
category: (102)
event id: 103
type: error
description: Error code 100000d1, parameter1 00000000, parameter2 00000002,
parameter3 00000000, parameter4 b87cab8f.

the "send info to ms" window pops up :

BCCode : 100000d1 BCP1 : 00000000 BCP2 : 00000002 BCP3 :
00000000
BCP4 : B87CAB8F OSVer : 5_1_2600 SP : 2_0 Product : 256_1

clicking tech details references two files which no longer exist :

C:\DOCUME~1\Balto\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER28c2.dir00\Mini052607-02.dmp
C:\DOCUME~1\Balto\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER28c2.dir00\sysdata.xml

any ideas anyone ?

To see the BSOD, search windows help for: "To specify what Windows does if
the system stops unexpectedly" and turn off Automatic Reboot.

(A search for restart in Help gets you to this article.)
