Download the xp drivers from dell, extract the files, and run setup.exe in
XP SP2 compatibility mode. It works fine.

Steve

Thank you yes it does work just to make it easy extract file to desktop of a
folder that has the rest of your drivers:)
Thank You

No - if you click on the setup.exe file and click properties, you will see a
tab called compatibility. Choose xp sp2 compatibility mode from there and
then run the file.

I have exactly the same problem. Dell Inspiron 6000 and I even tried reset
the settings but it was of no use.

Same issue here with my Dell XPS Gen2.

As I stated before all was working fine. I just clean installed Vista RC1
build 5600 and I now have the problem again. No sound with the head set
plugged in, but the LapTop built in speakers work fine.

Hi,
Strange,
On my Dell e1505 with Sigmatel 92xx from Dell; headphone jack works fine.
In fact;listening to tunes; while i type this to you;on headphones plugged
into the jack.
Try grabbing the e1505 Sigmatel driver off the Dell dloads. Never have
had a sound issue;in any Vista build.

Hi,
I use the Sigmatel driver for my e1505 - no probs
Go to dell and grab one for the e1505
Jeff

I couldn't get it to work.
It kept saying that it wasn't compatible with my hardware, or something like
that.

Anyone found a fix for this yet?

I tried that, and it did not help me at all.

Hi,
driver for the dell e1505-which
i have; works fine.
Maybe try the sigmatel driver for the dell e1505;instead of your 6000.
Jeff

I am running RC1 on an inspiron 9300, I've tried installing the dell drivers
for the 9300 and other models, none do anything to solve the headphone jack
issue. Anyone have any ideas?

Just to confirm this, I have an Inspiron 6000 and was having this problem. I
downloaded the e1505 drivers stated below and now everything works fine.
Thanks for that suggestion.

Yeap.... still problem... I have Inspiron 9300 + RC1 5728 and first output
jack didn't work... Then I dl & installed Realtek AC97 Audio drivers and I
