Hi
This is my first post.
I own a used Fujitsu Siemens E Series Note book which has been working fine up to last week.

The Screen has started a fuzzie fading flicker horizontally.

If I open and application it stops for a bit then starts again.

I hope its not terminal, although I have a gut feeling it is - can anyone out there give me any adivce.

Many thanks

Garnetalon

Does your laptop continue to do this all the time or is it intermittent.Intermittent problems are usually caused by temporary losses in continuity between two terminal contacts, such as a ram chip or any other chip seat. Some video cards will display the behavior that you reported if the ram is not socketed properly into the video card, even though it may appear to be seated ok.If the problem is consistent and does not change, even after basic servicing it is most likely a component failure. In about 80%of video output failures usually start by faulty electrolytic capacitors.
My last suggestion after you have done every thing practical to restore your laptop is sometimes the lithium nonrechargable cmos battery located on or near the motherboard leaks some of its contents on the motherboard.I noticed this one day on a motherboard when i set the probes on the board and the meter jumped.I washed the board with a substance to nutralize the acid from the leaked battery. Then I placed the motherboard to dry for a few days.
So service your system.......clean!
basic servicing also includes drivers and driver updates etc...

Thank You

Thanks for the help since I last posted it has stopped.

How or where can I find out about basic servicing of my NB is this something I could tackle myself - I'm no expert but not shy of trying new tasks.

Cheers GT

RE:How or where can I find out about basic

I have found that heathkit learning courses are good and the material is extremely accurate.Good to hear your notebook is ok.

Hi Garnetalon,

While booting the Laptop, Press F8 Key and you will be taken to "Safe Mode". Where you will find "VGA Mode" select that option and proceed. This will solve your problem............

Still if this does not solve your problem please mail to me.

Flickring Laptop Lcd screen display

you need to check this things.
1. hook up your laptop with external monitor if you have similar problem on external monitor probably thats video card issue.
2. if you want to check you can check laptop inverter also.
3. last possibility is laptop monitor display LCD is bad in that case you need to purchase new LCD.
Here.
