My Docked Gateway 450sx4 XP Home v2002 is hooked to a 19" CRT. I think
closing my lid sends it to standby. Is there a way to close my lid and still
use the CRT? Having both screens available is marvelous, but playing
solitaire or some games it would be handy to be able to close the laptop and
use just the CRT.

Gateway support always says the same things:
"Read your manual', (nothing on it in the manual)
"Do you want to buy something?"
"I don't know, Senhor", (they're in Dallas)
"Do you want to buy something?",
"There is no tech available but I can order something for you",
"Do you want to buy something?"

Which forum would be the most likely for someone to know about it?

Chas.

You need to configure your power options so that closing the lid doesn't put the PC in standby. Control Panel, Power Options.

Thank you very much Doug. It's in the advanced tab. Never been in there
before. Just in case any other readers are as ignorant as I am about this
machine, it needs to be checked as a laptop to get that reading.
Thans again, it's really handy to be able to close the lid.

Chas.
