i've got issues with computer noise..
got a laptop, toshiba satellite pro 2100
the fan noise starts out at a level that doesn't bother me. But at some
points it gets louder.. it doesn't take long.. I just open a browser or
an AV window and close it..
I think I narrowed it down Here are the CPU temps shown by speedfan
I don't know which temp is which, but it doesn't matter, because aside
from HDD, the others are about 50. And one of them is obviously CPU fan
Local Temp 49
Remote Temp 50
HDD 32
Temp 1 51
it reaches those values just going into windows
around those values the fan goes on.. OR maybe those values+1
So, I think when the CPU - perhaps "local temp" reaches 50 , the fan
goes up.
It doesn't do it for long. But I imagine that if i run more intensive
programs it might for longer.
The Laptop has 256MB RAM. If I use 512MB RAM , do you think it'll be a
lot better? i.e. CPU a lot less hot?
It's a P4-M. Are there CPUs for laptops that produce less heat, and
therefore fan not going that high?
I have seen Toshiba Satellites that behave really well noise-wise..
maybe that was unusual, I wish my friend still had it for me to figure
out why it is was so good
but maybe this one is like it is partly because 256MB RAM.. I'll
report back, but any ideas?
would a celeron be less hot? would 512 or 1GB RAM give the processor
less work and make it less hot?
TIA
