The power supply is on the cord
Generally that's only part of it... There's a single, higher voltage
switching box on the cord, but also needs have a board internal to the
laptop to regulate down to 5V, 3V, etc.
If the internal board has failed there may only be two alternatives,
ordering the exact replacement part from "manufacturer" or 3rd party
that stocks this type of part, or repair the board itself. Repairing
the board itself may be feasible (it's not complex or overly tiny)
but beyond the abilities of the typical end-user.
AS for the external power supply, anything with similar voltage,
amperage, same (or solder on) compatible output plug to notebook, will
work. Again it may be beyond the abilities of the typical end-user,
but there's no special considerations to the external part, anything
meeting the electrical specs will do.
