Hi Everyone,

Thanks for taking a minute to help me out.

Here is my problem, I have a W2K laptop configured for my domain at
work. When I take it home I plug into my router and login with the
cashed domain account from work. My connection is setup for DHCP so I
can still surf the net, email etc. with no problems. I have another
computer running XP Home that has a shared printer, everyone has full
access. The XP computer belongs a workgroup "Home"

For some reason I can not print from my laptop to my XP computer. I
can ping the XP computer from the Laptop, but I can not see it in
Network Neighborhood, even when I type in its IP, I can not view the
shared components of the XP machine.

Anyone know what I am doing wrong?

Thanks in advance,
Kris

You don't want to switch the laptop between workgroup and domain - its far
too much trouble.

The problem is that when you connect to a Printer Share, you don't get a
prompt for credentials for the home computer.

So, there are two ways around this - on the work laptop:
1. connect to a folder share on the home computer before attempting to print
2. open a command prompt and key this command:
net use \\homecomputername\ipc$ password /user:username

for "username" use the username you normally logon to your home computer
with; for "password", use the password for that account. Note: if that user
account on your home computer has a blank password, this won't work.
