Hi guys,
I got a new laptop recently but the middle (scroller) button on the touch
pad doesn't do anything. Does anyone have any ideas what to do? I've tried
the general mouse settings but didn't see anything there.

Thanks in advance. :D

Depending on which laptop you have, you might have to hold that button
down while moving another finger over the touchpad in the direction you
want to scroll. Not all laptops with that feature work in the same way!
Also, the way such features are sometimes implemented means that they
sometimes don't work with all software, although I'd expect it to at
least work with Windows Explorer and Internet Explorer.

Have you tried contacting the manufacturer, since this is a new laptop
which presumably shipped with Vista? They may be able to explain how to
use the button (if you're not clear on that), how to enable it (although
that would usually appear in Control Panel > Mouse, which I assume is
where you have looked for "general mouse settings"), how to update the
drivers, or there may well be a fault they need to repair.

I'm unlikely to be able to offer any more advice than that, but if
anyone else is able to, they will probably need to at least know what
laptop (make and model) you have. The version of Vista (Home Basic /
Home Premium / Business / Ultimate) might also make a difference.

Thanks for the quick reply Mark. The button has 5 different ways of being
pushed in. Once like a normal click then up, down, left and right. It's an
Acer Aspire 5720 laptop with Vista Home Premium.
I've tried it with several programs and it doesn't seem to work with anything.
