My 7 year old son has just decided to put an unidentified password into our IBM Thinkpad T21 laptop... Is there anyway I can over-ride this? He has no idea what password he has put in, and now every time I switch it on, it shows a padlock and asks for a password!! AAAaaaarggghhhhh!!!
Please can someone help???

umm how about ringing up IBM
or the place u got it from? ask them about it.

ive heard u can get programmes that can unlock passwords like this. yes its good for ppl in your situation

but think of all the exploits with this method!

no good, the kid put up the password, cant you change it in bios?

it may be possible to stick the hard drive in a desktop as a slave to retrieve the files

good idea
but i think this person still needs to unlock the password

You may be able to open the laptop up to reset the password, but there are overwride tools you can use to remove it - you will need to contact IBM to sort this though.
