I have tried to change the registry as outlined in KB823348: adding HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\GraphicsDrivers
LidCloseSetPower
There is no change. The instructions say to add that as a new key (LidCloseSetPower). I'm wondering if it should be a value. Then what should it be? Otherwise does anyone know how else to solve this issue as my husband and I are going crazy with our LCD!!
Thanks! (=

Are you sure it is not a hardware problem? The display is the most repaired
or replaced piece of hardware on laptops.

It's not a hardware problem, the problem only arises after installing
SP1 for Windows XP, I also tried adding that registry key myself it
worked until i rebooted once i rebooted the lcd started failing again

It's definately not a hardware issue its a software issue that
microsoft needs to fix in their next service pack.
