There is nothing that the install process is doing to cause the
overheat problem. The XP Home install is just using the laptop's
hardware (CD/DVD, hard drive, RAM, LCD) to install the software. It
is the hardware that is generating the heat. You must clean out all
dust, grime, "hair" and other "junk" from the inside the laptop,
especially the vents / fans. Only when the laptop is not
overheating when on a normal "software" load, the XP install should
work normally.

If you still can not re-install the XP, you would then have several
"thermal" problems in the laptop and you will always have overheat
problems with it.

Yes, there IS an issue with this model, in that under DOS the Turion
processors run at full speed continuously, and can overheat.

First, check for fluff blocking the heatsink fins, in the fan exhaust. If no
air comes out this may be the problem.

There are utilities available to reduce the clock speed under DOS, though
you should be able to get through setup if the machine is kept cool.

Hi

Sorry for the late reply. I have cleaned the featsink fans but the
overheating still continues. a lot of air comes out of the fan but i don't
understand the problem.

A few days ago, i phoned a computer shop and asked them how much is it, if
they can have a look to my laptop to see what the problem is but i will have
to pay £50.

I have looked on the Acer website but there is no utilities available to
reduce the speed under DOS.

Is where another computer shop that will have a look at my laptop and pay
lower than £50.
