I have a Toshiba A205 S5871 laptop with Vista that I bought hoping to get
used to Vista. I absolutely hate Vista. I have wiped the hard drive on the
laptop but when I start the install of xp it says that it cannot find a hard
drive installed.

You need to find the hard drive controller driver and then use the F6 option
after booting from the XP CD and provide said driver via floppy.

what should you do if the laptop doens't
have a floppy driver?

Drive you mean?

- Get an external one to keep around...
- Integrate the drivers you need directly into the installation media...
- Change certain features in the BIOS...
- Go with a newer OS that will have the drivers you need integrated in...
