laptop graphics cards

I am looking to buy a laptop to play a few games via LAN with my son.

I dont want the latest and greatest and would be happy with a good
model from less than 2 years ago.

However, if i am gonna buy an older laptop i want to make sure it has a
card that was top of the line...for that time.

Are there any sources out there that give benchmarks/reviews on
graphics cards for laptops?

I would treat this page with a grain of salt, for the following two reasons:

1) A component of 3DMark 05 and 06 is the CPU score, which does the
equivalent of software 3D rendering (think Quake1, Descent...). Without a
consistent platform where only the graphics card is changed out, you cannot
compare the different graphics chipsets reliably. This is also why laptop
graphics chipsets are not compared extensively. Most reviews tend to focus
on single laptops.

2) The usefulness of 3DMark itself is quite questionable nowadays. 3DMark
had ceased to be a good representation of actual game performance in
2002-2003.
