I have a Dell Inspiron 8200 and just recently my fan has
come on nonstop and it is really slowing my computer down
a lot. I am connected to a LAN, and have run an updated
virus scan and found nothing. Any help would be
appreciated.

Call Dell tech support...it could be their power management
software or it could be adware/spyware/hacker on the LAN
running your computer CPU a lot causing the fan to come on
to control the heat.

Use the task manager [ctrl/alt/del] to see performance,
check CPU load. Also, get a firewall such as Zone Alarm to
monitor what programs are doing. Get NetStatLive from
www.analogx.com to monitor traffic.

The fan coming on isn't what is slowing your system down. It's a
hardware device controlled by on onboard temp sensor, not using
processor power.

It's merely a symptom of your hot CPU. Find out what is causing your
CPU to go into overdrive and then you'll know what's slowing your
system down. Don't blame the poor fan!
