LapTop Dvd Drive not working ??

i purchase new laptop,drive was working well but once when i inserted a dvd
into drive,it stop woring after that.
Strange thing is that PRODUCT RECOVERY cd which i got with laptop is working
and even BLANK DVD also work when inserted which shows that NO PROBLEM WITH
HARDWARE.
i dont want to go with format and re-installing window by sacrificing whole
program installed.
is that virus ?
what could b the solution ?
please help
 
hello cari,infact i inserted a dvd of one of my relative marriage movie
ofcource not original one and i want to tell you something, after inserting
into laptop and having my dvd not working i tried those DVD into my MUSIC
PLAYER and you will surprize that those dvd make that music player DRIVE also
currupted.
but now my laptop has no problem if i insert RECOVERY CD , i can brows even
blank dvd if i insert , it allows me for write but if i insert any other and
click on icon on drive F: inise MY COMPUTER, the cd eject automatically and a
message popup that "insert cd into drive F" ???

Is your Compact Disk drive a CD or DVD drive?
A CD drive will not read a DVD disk.
