I tried the new Vostro 1502 laptop and noticed that display cover is closed
rather hardly, and when display is near 2-inches from the body, it tense and
springy and tries to slam very sharply, with sharp knock. So you need be
very careful and to keep the fingers between display and housing, otherwise
display will knock very sharply. When I closed it first time, i was not
very accurate and display slammed very sharply, with sharp knock. Can this
damage LCD display?

I called, but still not too much clear. The answer was the portable has
rubber bumpers that should protect the LCD from any damage. Yes, there is 6
small rubber bumpers, but it's very small and flat, and don't look too
reliable for protection & shock absorption.

I'm confused?
on what the issue is you using the word hardly?
and Knock?

So it drops closed when you get 1" away?
or it's hard to close?

My Laptop closes smoothly all the way to it's latch.
And if you are talking about a small gap even when it's closed
then YES that is what the rubber pads are for.

If it's closing wrong, call them back and tell them
it doesn't close smoothly
If that person doesn't help.
Hang up and call again

Well. I did not assert that something is broken, nothing is broken yet.
I just assumed that this display closing mechanism theoretically can cause
damage of bezel or palm rest, or even display itself.

Well at 1/4" the latches are touching
and I have to push it closed.
So from 1/4" - 0" there is no adjustment
But yes I can leave it at 1/4" if I wanted to

So, No Dropping etc. smooth closing all the way down.

If it's closing wrong, call them back and tell them
it doesn't close smoothly
If that person doesn't help.
Hang up and call again
until you get someone smarter than a crow bar

I tried the new Vostro 1502 laptop and noticed that display
cover
is
closed rather hardly, and when display is near 2-inches from
the
body,
it
tense and springy and tries to slam very sharply, with sharp
knock.
So
you
need be very careful and to keep the fingers between display
and
housing,
otherwise display will knock very sharply. When I closed it
first
time,
i
was not very accurate and display slammed very sharply, with
sharp
knock.
Can this damage LCD display?
--------

I called, but still not too much clear. The answer was the
portable
has
rubber bumpers that should protect the LCD from any damage. Yes,
there
is 6
small rubber bumpers, but it's very small and flat, and don't
look
too
reliable for protection & shock absorption.
-------------------

when cover is near the palm rest, it becomes springy, and the bezel
may
strike againtst the palm rest if not to hold with fingers.
This is by design, not a defect.
-----------

Well. I did not assert that something is broken, nothing is broken
yet.
I just assumed that this display closing mechanism theoretically can
cause
damage of bezel or palm rest, or even display itself.
-----------

Have you tried pull down the display, and when it almost in place (say
1"), then release fingers from it?
Will it fall or will remain fixed?
