Hey. I've got an ATA-3 hdd in my laptop and I want to upgrade it some bit,
can anyone tell me if ATA-5, ATA-6 or ATA-10 are compatible with it?
Thanks.
Martin.

How in Hades are we supposed to know?! You give us absolutely no details
about your system whatsoever.

The system doesn't matter its just a simple question about technical
information erferring to ATA standards.

Then go do some research on ATA standards you rude person. Try Google.

I appologise if I sounded rude but I wasn't trying to be. I simply assumed
someone might know the technical data I was looking for. I tried google but
as usual it didn't help at all. I had tried it before I even asked here. If
more inormation will help I have a CTX EzBook 700E. It uses a 4gb Fujitsu
ATA-3 hdd. The only hard drives I can find to upgrade it are either ATA-5 or
ATA-6.

ATA standards are backwards-compatible. Use whatever you want, just don't
expect an improvement in disk-access speed. The IDE controller will only
work to it's maximum, which I'd say would be for ATA-3 drives. You may have
to upgrade your BIOS or use an overlay if the drive you are fitting is of
significantly larger capacity than the one you are replacing.

Thanks ~misfit~, I appologise again for my rudness.

So why are you still top-posting? Your answer goes /after/ the
material to which you are replying (or interspersed), after
snipping anything that does not apply to your answer.
