I wanted to upgrade winME to win2000
on Micron Transport XKE. I updated bios
from http://support.buympc.com/apps/filelist.asp?ID=4139
It is the bios for this model 1374.

But now, it says there is no harddrive.
What can I do???

Any help appreciated.

Hi,

I don't know if this'll help, but if you can remove the CMOS battery (the
small coin-sized battery) and leave it out for awhile, this should clear
your BIOS and it might try to re-detect the hard drive. I don't know
anything about Microns, but there also might be a jumper on the motherboard
that would clear the BIOS settings.

I can't find the CMOS battery. Not visible from any compartment. I removed
all small
screws but case still wouldn't open. Any help???

Hi,

Sorry, I'm not familiar with that laptop. You might want to try the
Micron PC website and see if they have any Users Guide, or try posting
on comp.sys.laptops (note the "s" at the end of "laptops". There's also
a comp.sys.laptop which is not very busy).

There should be a CMOS defualts option in the CMOS setup.

There should be a boot procedure that will take you directly to the
BIOS setup. If you can get there, just reset everything to the default
settings.

A second option, if you have a boot floppy or CD, boot from that and
use FDISK to investigate your hard drive.

Regards and good luck, hawk

Micron must have died. No web site that I can find. I found an MCP or
similar but very slack.

When I run fdisk it says no fixed disk installed.
help
I did several formats trying to get an operating system to update clean.
Could the formats have broken the hard drive???
