laptop battery...and power management..

Hi

I sometimes charge my laptop up a lot to full battery then I turn it off.
Mostly I put it into hibernatation mode. Perhaps the next day I will turn it on and the battery is completely dead. The blue light will flash three times and no power goes into the laptop.
Sometimes when I sleep after putting it into hibernation mode I can hear it turn on itself. Or I might be dreaming.... mmmmm

Perhaps it would be a different story when actually shutting the thing down?

Does anyone know what is going on?

Does the battery drain even if it's turnt off?
What do you all think?

Sometimes you get so involved in things that you forget the basics. Like I am here.
 
I normally fully charge the battery on my laptop then use it until no power left, then re-charge it.
It all depends on settings etc, but when i finish with it i always turn it off.
How old is the battery?
 
It is fairly new I got it in JAN.

But my mate was livid with me
he told me NOT to keep it on charge as much as I do.
 
You need to go through the calibration process which can improve the performance of the battery. Have you read the article I posted about batteries? In case not here is the link
