laptop and external monitor

I have a laptop on a docking station and an external monitor hooked up to it.
I have already "extended" my desktop to both the laptop and the monitor. I
would like the start menu and my quick launch bar to be on both the laptop
and the monitor display. Any suggestions?

Check our video settings for a "clone" setting of the second monitor;
that should show the entire screen, but the same screen as on the
laptop.

Are you sure it's not there but just below the screen limit where you
can't see it? You can also usually adjuct screen sizes/position in the
video settings. Well, Dell & Gateway anyway; I don't have personal
experience with other laptops that way.
