Hello,

Does anyone have experience with Document Scanners with ADF to a
laptop PC?

I am thinking about using a 25 page per min scanner with USB fed into
a laptop with WinXP and 512 MB RAM but I fear the performance will
degrade.

Any comments on the experience of people that have tried something
similar will be of gret help.

Cheers,
Jose

Question from a new guy here.

What is ADF? I see that referred to quite often but don't know what
it means.

Thanks.

ADF = Automatic Document Feeder.

Drop an entire stack of papers into a hopper and the ADF feeds them
through the scanner one-at-a-time.

Some ADF's can "duplex" ... scan the front and back of each page without
manual intervention.

[Some software (Adobe Acrobat among them) can scan double sided
documents even without a duplexing document feeder. You have to do two
separate passes, but it's two separate passes of the entire stack, not
each page (that is, scan the fronts, then scan the backs, both through
the scanner (but manual action is required once, to refeed the entire
stack into the scanner for the 2nd pass)]
