LANs, Port forwarding and xp firewall

I am on a Local area network and I connect to the
internet via a gateway computer. I would like to be able
to connect to my computer from other computers with
Remote Administration tools but I cannot because I have
no IP address. It would be ever so helpful for someone to
send a convincing argument (for my dad) to let me use the
XP firewall to forward connections from a specific port
on his computer, thank you
