Lanmanserver keeps stopping.

Hello,

The Server service, lanmanserver, in this Windows XP
machine will not stay running. I go into the control
panel, administrative services, services, & then find the
Server service. It is not running. I double-click on
it, start it, & then a few seconds later it stops. Would
anyone have any ideas on what's wrong?
 
What does it say for the startup type? Manual or Auto? Why do you want it running all the time? These generally start and stop as needed.
