Friends,
I have configured the Arabic Language to write in Arabic on the Windows XP
English version. But when we go to Internet Explorer we cannot type Arabic,
lets say if I go to google.com there is search box when I try to write on
there Arabic I cannot, but, if I write in MS Word and I just copy and past in
the search box it will be ok. Also I can write Arabic in the Address Bar of
IE. I already added Arabic in the Language tab of Internet Explore Options.
What I have to do more to solve this problem. Waiting for your response.
Thanks and Regards,
Naveed

Hi Saine :-)

Try the information below and see if it helps:

How To Add and Enable Additional Languages in Windows
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q177561

You can also add/install languages from your Windows CD

also.......

Make sure that Auto-select at the top of the Encoding box in View is not
checked

Then go to IE>Tools>Internet Options>General>Accessibility
Make sure none of the boxes there are checked if not needed.

Then go to the Languages tab and make sure that the language you want is in
the list, and at the *top* of the list. If it's not there, install it. If
it's not at the top, move it to the top of the list, then click OK and close
IE.

Change Language in IE

Tools/Internet Options/ General Tab> at the bottom there is a button for
Languages> Look in the window for the language you want, highlight it and
then click Change. Then close out. Close and reopen IE and the new language
should now be the default language.

If the language you want in not in the window list, click the Add button and
scroll to the language you want, highlight it and then click OK, then
highlight the new language and click on Change.

Hope this helps :-)

Thanks

I am afraid that I am left with few other suggestions at this time. You
might try the following and see if it will help, although, you may have
already tried them as well:

Options for enabling Unicode in Internet Explorer 5, 5.5 and 6
(http://www.alanwood.net/unicode/explorer.html#ie5

Description of Multilingual Menus and Dialog Boxes for Internet Explorer

List of languages supported in Windows 2000, Windows XP, and Windows Server
2003
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;292246

And, perhaps the information here will be of some help:
http://www.sheikhmohammed.co.ae/arabic/privacy/noarabic.asp

also....here is some information I was able to find on another forum with a
poster who had a similar problem:

..."Forms can be filled out in any language you want...as long as the font is
supported. Arabic fonts probably wouldn't be supported. Russian and
Norwegian and languages with the occasional weird character might be tricky,
but if you know the character map stuff, you might be able to fake it. So
no, there's no reason other than fonts that would prevent someone from
posting in another language."

Hopefully, someone else here will have more information that will help
resolve your problem.

Hope this helps :-)

Hi, Saine,

Yes, such thing happens for Russian, too.

1) Jan II, there was no need to enable the language because Saine wrote
that the language
_already_ works in MS Word and in Browser, it's just one place where
it doe snot work -
in _typing_ (display is fine) in Web forms.
Also, just FYI, the Tools/Options/Language and placing the language at
the top of the list
does _nothing_ int eh area of _functionality_ of a browser, does not
affect browser's
work with languaes and encodings. It's there for another reason - for
some (rare)
sites that keep 2 versions fo the same page say in English and in
Russian -
then if Russian at the top of the list, server will sned Russian page
to me. Again,
it's not a _functionality_ issue.

2) The problem Saine reported is due to the fact that some 3rd party
plug-in
affected in such a bad way a functionality of Internet Explorer in the
area of
national texts typing. One needs to _remove_ scuh plug-in.

I have an updateable list of such plugi-ins here:

Dear Friend,

You are right, on that workstation, Goggle tool bar is installed, I will
uninstall that then I let you know if problem is solved.
I am having one more problem and its also related same language (Arabic) but
in Microsoft Office 2000 Professional, In MS Outlook if someone will send me
an email and Subject is in Arabic I am not able to view it sometimes I
changes with “????????†and sometimes I will be changed in different letters
and that are unknown we cannot read. But whatever is written in email
(Arabic) I can view correctly. I thought this problem from the sender’s side
so just to make sure what I did I just sent and email to myself. Once I typed
Subject I was able to type in Arabic but once I received that email I was not
able to read Subject. What do you think this is also happening due to that
problem?. Please let me know so that I can uninstall the Google Tool Bar.
Looking for your informative response.

Thank you very much for your input.

Saine

In MS Outlook we have the same issue with Russian - no, it's your
Outlook, not a sender's problem - please see my MS Outlook page -
it uses Russian as an example, but really it's the same for any other
non-Western text:

http://RusWin.net/cyr_o2k.htm

The 2 problems you described are totally UNrelated - one is caused by
a 3rd pary plug-in to IE, 2nd - to the design of MS Outlook.

Hi Sain and Paul,

just wanted to thank both of you,-Sain for posting the issue and Paul for
the solution. Thank you a hundred times. I could not solve the problem for
quite a while, the problem was with typing in Russian in emails. When I
called microsoft they coudn't offer much of a help.

Kind regards, michaelseagull.

Hello,

I'm having same problem. There is not installed toolbars or any other
plug-ins, but it's not working still. Could some McAfee or other
Anti-Virus/Spyware - removal software do this? How about Java Runtime?

Hi Tommi,

Did you see the page link they posted
http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/PaulGor/IEinp_e.htm

If you don't have any addons installed then yes it could be another
installed program. One worrying possibility is Key logging spyware (since
these forms of spyware record your keyboard strokes they could also
interfere with the appearance of characters on the screen).

Here is a web search http://www.google.com/search?q=key logging spyware
that may provide you with some ways of determining if this is the case.

Regards.

Hi Rob,
Thanks for reply.

Yes i have checked those pages but it's not working with in my case.
Problem cause seems to be KB947864. Uninstalling that will solve the problem.
But it's not a good solution.
