My friend and I just recently bought a PC game that is
playable online. We really want to play together, but
the global servers have much lag. We thought that we
might be able to use HyperTerminal to create a temporary
LAN between our computers. I have no idea if this is
even possible, but I figure this is one place I could
find out. If you have ANY idea regarding this matter,
PLEASE email me at: (e-mail address removed) . Please title
your emails "HyperTerminal" or something to that extent,
so I dont accidentally mistake them for junk when I sort
my mail by sender. Thanks for your help.

Lance,

Hyperterm can't do this, but you can establish a LAN connection
over a parallele or serial cable (needs to be a crossover cable,
also called null modem cable or LapLink cable) anyway. Of
course, a real LAN is better, so if your computers have Ethernet
adapters built in, buy an Ethernet crossover cable instead (or
two patch cables and a switch). I recommend this, even if you
have to put in Ethernet adapters.

If you have to go the serial or parallel connection road, first,
get such a cable. Then double-click on the network and click on
establish new network connection. The wizard will show you the
way. Parallel connections are faster.

Why are you still using such unhandy thing as Hyper Terminal? Recently
I've found an interesting program - Flash Terminal. It is really Hyper
Terminal killer. With Flash Terminal you can chat and exchange files
via modem (including v.90, ISDN, ADSL, GPRS) and null-modem
simultaneously without Internet! You can exchange up to 255 files at
once with unlimited transfer resuming after connection break. Program
includes large amount of nice avatars.
