Hi
i have a laptop with xp on it ip is 192.168.0.1 and a connection to
the internet, and a server running with linux on it ip 192.168.0.2
(redhat 7.2)
now i have them lanned and there is no problem with them when my
laptop isnt connected to the internet, i can access the server from
laptop no probs using a program called webmin for the linux machine.
The minute i connect laptop to the internet tho, the lan connection
wont work it just gives me a gateway timeout etc. And im at a
complete loss as to the reason why. Ive tried swapping IP's round and
making the laptop the ....0.2 but due to this having the net
connection i was told to change it back.
I have no firewalls running whatsoever either so i can remove that
from the equation. I can also ping the linux server successfully when
the net connection is running too.
i wasnt sure if this is a linux question or xp but my problem is at
the xp end i believe hence i wrote for help in here
and any help offered would be gratefully appreciated.
regards
