lan printer use

when trying to use the printer on main computer, it takes
appfrox. 40 seconds (regardless of buffer storage
required) to activate. Atg the same time a msg is on
screen saying unable to communicate to printer. names are
correct and everything is enabled sharing????????

.a second printer on lan works normally
