LAN IP conflict with ICS setup

I have Win XP-home on my host PC trying to configure it
with ICS. But everytime I try it I get a message that
says there is another LAN connection configured with the
IP address required to use with ICS, presumably
192.168.0.1

I only have 2 network devices on this PC, one for the LAN
and the other that connects to a router/switch combo
which connects to my DSL modem. My router gateway IP is
set to 192.168.0.2x and the DHCP is set to give IP
addresses between 192.168.0.2x to 192.168.0.50

I have uninstalled all firewall software and disabled
McAfee antivirus when I trouble-shoot but still get this
same error message.

Any suggestions?

Since you have a router, why are you trying to configure your PC with
ICS? The router provides an Internet connection sharing capability.
What would ICS do for you that you can't already do?

If you really want to configure ICS, you'll have to change the
router's LAN subnet and IP address to something other than
192.168.0.x.

Fair question,
I have had problems with the router recognizing my other
PCs that connect to it via homeplug adapters and this
affects not only access to the internet but also my LAN.
My host PC seems to recognize the other PCs more
reliably. So as a backup plan I am trying to use ICS.
The ICS also affords more use control of the internet by
the network which is not a bad thing in my home.

Thanks for your reply
