LAN connected but files offline - why?

I have a host (pc) with laptop on home network. I often get a balloon on pc
telling me that I am now working on offline on the laptop (having previosuly
been online). When I check offline file status there is a note saying
'unavailable for reconnect'. The effect is that I am unable to use the
network printer from the laptop.

The strange thing though is that on the laptop if I check network
connections it has LAN still connected - and I can still access the internet
from the laptop (so ICS is working fine).

a) Why does this happen or..
b) How do I 'reconnect' my fiules to work online and access the printer
without rebooting the laptop?

Thanks

Were you ever able to solve this problem? We are experiencing something quite
similar. We have a windows 2003 server and we are synchronizing clients my
docs folders to the server through active directory. we have about 45 clients
connecting throughout the day. All users are connected through a LAN. At
seemingly random times users get the "Working offline" message, even though
they are still connected to the network and can still access the internet.
We're having a terrible time trying to figure out if it is a client side
issue or server side. Not all users have reported the problem. Any help would
be greatly appreciated

Thanks

Did you ever get a reply to this message. I've been living with problems
with Microsoft small business server now for 3 years - I'm seriously on the
verge of binning the whole lot and starting from scratch. Generally I have
to reboot my laptop 3 or 4 times before I'm able to reconnect and
synchronise with the server - I'm going crazy! I've been through 4 sets of
computer consultants - all to no avail. Any help would be much appreciated.
