I just bought a dell computer with 128mb of ram with 40g of space. Would this cause my games to lag? I play Unreal Tournement and Half Life and both lag.

Hi Corey,

Although you should have more RAM on a gaming system,
256 MB minimum or 512 MB ideally, your bottleneck could
be caused by your video card. Do you know it's specifications?

If you are talking about online gaming, your lag is net lag. High ping rates
and packet loss between your computer and the game server are the causes. Or
do you actually mean poor frame rates? Lag is a delay between when you
initiate an action and when the action happens on screen.

No experience with Half Life but UT wouldn't be affected in that way by that
RAM or hard drive. CPU and video card are the main concerns. UT by default
uses 100% of CPU so a low powered processor (well below 500MHZ) might lag if
you have too many background applications running.. A low performance video
card would be the chief cause of poor frame rates.
