From one day to the other my internet is not working anymore.
i am behind a lan, the internet is plugged in directly into the hub.
if followed some instructions, looked in "start/run/cmd over there i
looked up my ip config.
it seems that i dont get an ip address assigned....
i ahve two computers here. one apple laptop, and a pc.
apple internet works, pc doesn't. if i swap the cables, pc still has
no internet.
so the problem is somewhere inside my pc. the settings have been the
same for years.
so they still are, i even reinstalled win2000. no internet.
i am close to suicide by now, so does any one has an idea?
thanks
Ronnie

For starts since you have two computers you will need either at least two IP
addresses from your ISP or you will need to use a NAT router that will also
double as a basic firewall. You said they are connected to a "hub" so I
don't know if you have a NAT router or not. Internet Connection Sharing is
also another possibility but I personally do not use it or recommend it with
the price of NAT routers being less than taking the family to McDonalds
these days. The link below is to such a device if you are not familiar with
them. If you do have a NAT router I would consider changing the network card
on the problem computer. --- Steve

well steve its like this.....
the internet goes from the modem, directly into the hub. from there it
splits to several pc's and apple's.
two of those cables go to my room. one for my apple and one for my pc.
the local network works, i can browse the other pc's.
i am sending and receiving packages...
the other pc's have internet. also the apples..
its only my pc that has some problem.
I already changed the network card but that doesnot help.
my settings are exactly the same as the rest of the pc's.
i just dont get any ip adress assigned, and the others do get one..
my win 2000 pc and some others use the netbeui protocol.
the xp machines dont use that, cause it doesnot excist anymore on xp.
does this give some other sollutions apart from changing the
hardware..
thanks inadvance and also for previuos help/answer
ronnie

as sudden as it left its back....i ran a spiewhare program, and also
