Labels Ordered by Column

I'm trying to print labels ordered down rather than the default (across) order produced by the label wizard.

I would like:

Ben Jacob Jordan
Cris Jenna Nate
Greg Jessica Val

as opposed to the default ordering that the label wizard puts out:

Ben Cris Greg
Jacob Jenna Jessica
Jordan Nate Val

I have a programmatic solution for the problem but would like to know if there is an option in the report settings I'm missing.

In design view go to Page Setup and on the Columns tab you
can set the order as across or down. Save the report
afterwards.

I'm trying to do the same thing and had the same problem. The 'Down then
Across' didn't help - the labels come out in the same order regardless. Is
this a bug or am I doing something wrong ?
I just posted this in the 'General questions'. Should have done it here.
