Labels and HP Color Laserjet 5M

I recently acquired a secondhand HP Color Laserjet 5M. It clearly says all
over it "no labels".

What I'm wondering is, since this printer was made (1997), has anybody come
out with labels that *will* work for it? In particular I'd be interested in
CD-R labels.

More broadly, does anyone know why labels aren't (or weren't) acceptable in
this printer, while they do work in other laser printers, even other color
laser printers? Is there something different about the fuser heat, or about
the paper path?
 
The problem is that most the label types cannot take the heat process, and
will usually warp and unstick from their backing. I have seen some labels
rated for laser printers, but they are a bit thick, and sometimes cause
jamming in the rollers. They can also cause damage when they jam. If the
labels dislodge from their backing, they can get badly stuck in the rollers,
and inner workings. They will be difficult to remove.

I would look in to a low cost printer that can handle or be used for labels.
Infact, I have been looking at this for someone.
