When trying to connect to VPN using L2TP I get error 2,
file not found. Running Windows XP Home Edition SP 1

Any ideas?

I haven't seen anything on this, but here is a shot:

1. Run "sfc /scannow". This will replace any missing files that
could have been inadvertently deleted.

2. Are you using certificate based L2TP? If so, do you have both the
computer and the user certificate installed on this computer?

1. Ran sfc /scannow and it didn't find any missing files.

2. Yes using certificate based L2TP, and yest both the
computer and the user certificate is installed on the
computer in question.

More detail - can connect via dialup to RAS server
outside the firewall, problem happens when creating the
VPN tunnel to connect to the VPN server inside the
firewall.

Also, don't seem to have PEAP installed on the local
machine.

PEAP is irrelevant in this case since you are use EAP/TLS (certificate
based).

This might be worthy of opening a support incident.. Is there more to
the error message you are getting (check the event log to see if more
is logged)? I can't find any reference to this in relation to a
VPN...

Haven't opened a ticket yet, but may have to.

There is no more to the error message than what was previously posted, and
no more information in the event log.

When problem gets resolved will post what fixed the problem. In the meantime
if something comes to mind let me know.
