I am considering ordering a CIS system (continuous ink system) from
the Kyson company
(http://www.kysonusa.eznet.biz/) for my Canon Ip4500. I'm getting
mighty tired of paying $15-$17 per tiny cartridge for this otherwise
excellent printer. Does anyone have any experience with the Kyson CIS
systems?

Also, Kyson offers the choice of either all dye OR all pigment ink for
use in their system for this printer, which normally takes dye inks
for 4 of the 5 cartridges. How has all pigment ink in this system
worked out for Canon printers? The Kyson website says that their
pigment ink is ground superfine and so can be used in Canons that
otherwise would use mostly dye inks and will not clog their printhead.
Anyone had an experience with their pigment ink in a Canon printer? It
would be nice to be able to take advantage of pigment ink's water-
fastness and greater longevity than dye inks.

If a Kyson CIS system has or hasn't worked for you, I'd sure like to
hear of it as would many others too. Many thanks.

Suggest you stay away from pigment ink in a printer designed for dye. Apart
from the head life issues, you'll need to use completely different papers
and cannot print on discs with any measure of quality. Pigment ink makers
like to extol the virtues of their inks, but don't like to discuss the
rather large issue of media compatibility.

You can buy compatible tanks for the 4500, BTW, you just need to fiddle with
chips a bit.

Canon designed this printer to use dye ink except for one pigment cart.

The only thing that ever worked for me is OEM ink.

If you want to use pigment ink then get a Canon Pro9500 that is designed for pigment ink.

I hope you have not ordered from them as they are just making bogus
claims about having pigment inks for the Canon printers.
