I have a KVM switch, and currently I have to have the KVM focused on

Is there a way to change this?

Shouldnt be necessary with a decent KVM that lets the computer
see what it thinks is the keyboard and mouse at boot time even
when the KVM isnt switched to that computer.

Yep, get a better KVM.

Not perfect with a USB KVM, there are some OSs that need
to see the USB keyboard and mouse as they boot or they
decide that there is no USB keyboard and mouse, so when
you switch to the computer, it doesnt work. Not a problem
with XP or most recent linux configs now tho.

Thanks for the tip.

Also, it looks like there is an additional connector on it - something
like a power supply connector. Anyone know what that might be for?

I bought it off eBay, so I don't have the manual.

Thank you.

I just bought one of these KVM Switches from EBay. I just needed it to
switch monitors.

With just the monitors active and nothing else plugged, and no
external power supply, the unit still works. Plugging it into a 9
VDC, 500MA supply, the LED's brighten up. The video remains the
same. I think I see a small amount of ghosting, but it's not bad.

By the way, for the power connector, the center pin (TIP) is PLUS (+),
and the RING is NEG (-).
