KVM switch question

I have two computers, a monitor for both but only want to use one keyboard and mouse. I have searched and haven't found just a KM switch. All I can find are KVM switches.

My question is, can I use a KVM switch but only hook up the keyboard and mouse to the switch? I don't see why it wouldn't work, but was curious before I buy anything if anyone knows if this will work for sure. Any help is appreciated.

Yes, you can use just what you need ... some do need to use a keyboard to "switch" from one PC to the another.
