KVM Switch locks keyboard.

I've got a KVM a basic manual one and whilst switching between the 2 pcs...
the
keyboard will lock up.

Anyone know if there is a way to fix this.. Im thinking of buying a new one
any recommendations ?

I heard the reason for this locking up of the keyboards is becuase the
keyboard looses power
during the switching and this is the reason for the locking.
 
How does the keyboard connect to the KVM, and how does
the KVM connect to the PC?

What KVM is it?

VGA outs from both PCs go to the KVM switch.
KVM VGA -> Monitor

&

Cables go to back of PC from keyboard PS2 to KVM.
KVM -> Keyboard

Pretty basic really.

Its unbranded.. a metal box with 3 VGA, 6 PS2 sockets :)

Damn thing really annoying having to remove the keyboard and plug it back in
after it locks up.
 
I had somewhat similar problem and solved it by adding an optional power
supply to the KVM. I have Belkin KVM and it normally works using the power
supplied by the mouse/keyboard but in addition it has the provision to plug
it in to the wall in order to provide it's own power, perhaps just for such
cases as yours.
