Grzegorz

Hello.

Yesterday I managed to instal XP Professional on my computer and from the
begginning I need to deal with some troubles. When I start my computer,
Windows is showing me error message, that could not find the 'koe.exe' file
which should have been placed in Documents and settings (according to this
message). Does anyone know what it is and how can I fix it?

I appreciate any support.

Thank you.

Gregory

There should be NO EXE file executing from; C:\Documents and Settings

The chances of a malware infection is high.

Download, install, update and then execute, Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware

On the other hand, lots of application installers like to leave archival
copies of themselves in there, sometimes in "Local Settings", sometimes
in "Application Data", sometimes elsewhere. I find everything from
Adobe's "Flash" to Nero7 to Sun's JRE.

So, finding an EXE in there isn't too surprising.

Finding one there isn't, having one running from there, which is what
David said, is.

Well, the message the OP related simply said that some process couldn't
"find" the executable.

But,if an installer has left its guts somewhere under "Documents and
Settings" and something is triggering a re-install or repair
installation, running an EXE from there wouldn't be too surprising
either.

[By the way, your top-posting left all the earlier text from this thread
after your sig separator, which my news client quite properly deleted]

And neither can I care what your newsreader did which BTW is wrong. Change
newsreader or set it up correctly

I couldn't care less what your news reader did.

The fact that you're a top poster makes it clear that you don't care
about much.

Good luck.

Are you also "David B.", or just his very, very good friend?

I see that you use "Microsoft Outlook Express", which is generally
considered less than adequate, to be polite, in the context of news
clients.

Good luck to you too.

If the exe is in the registry to start at every boot, it's is almost
guaranteed to be malware, argue all you want, the odds are it's
malware, and I couldn't care less what your news reader did.

It shows.
