Do anyone know if it is a breach of EULA if I load Kodak
Image Viewer to a Windows XP box? My company is
utilizing a software that needs Kodak Viewer because
Windows XP doesn't come with one that can see batch
images.

Hi, Jong.

Who's EULA? Kodak's, or Microsoft's?

I'm no lawyer, but I see no way this breaches the MS EULA. And I don't see
how Kodak could sell this program if you weren't allowed to load it onto
WinXP.

Microsoft fully expects us to use third-party software, even programs that
compete directly with MS's own products, with every version of their
operating systems. And the Department of Justice would be very disappointed
if MS blocked such use, either by programming or by licensing agreements.

It would depend on what the EULA covering the Kodak product says. It's
not likely anybody here knows about that.

BTW, what is a "batch image"? You can view just about any kind of
image file with IrfanView (www.irfanview.com), a very well-written,
free product.

The process to install it has been around as long as XP has. There has been
no mention of repercussion.

After installing this program (you can remove it later again after using it)
and you run it you are able to copy and install Kodak Imaging in XP from a
Windows 98/SE/ME CD.

You need to understand just a little bit of German to use the install
program, everything is standard. While installing Windows Imaging you might
see some screen flickering, just ignore and wait for the program to be
completely ready.

You can find the program here: http://lab1.de/prod/ifw4xp/index.htm

In addition, Kodak Imaging will be installed in folder C:\ifw. You can move
the whole folder to C:\Program Files if you prefer without problem and make
a shortcut reflecting the change.
