Kodak i260 not being seen with Firewire

We have an i260 that recently was plugged up using a new power supply.
The machines powers fine but is not recognized by the device manager.
We know the firewire is good because we were able to access a portable
hard drive using the same wire. So, it seems the machine is simply not
recognizing the device. There were a few articles suggesting that
Microsoft has issues with firewire and SP2 but none of them seem to
apply.

Kodak says it's probably a scanner issue but I am hesitant to pay them
to come out and simply reconfigure something I overlooked at $250 an
hour. Anyone have ideas?

Thanks.

Device Manager doesn't recognise the scanner at all ( found new
hardware wizard)? I'm not familiar with the Kodak line of products nor
firewire scanners... but, I'd make an educated guess to see if it
helps.

I. verify your windows WIA service is started an automatic.
1. right click on my computer
2. select manage
3. on the left pane, expand services and applications
4. highlight services
5. on the right pane, double-click Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) and
verify it's started and set to automatic boot

if not make the changes and okay out... then reboot

II. if that dosn't work, connect the scanner to another pc (even
without the drivers, plug and play should detect a new peripheral
device)

III. if that fails, swap the cable if possible.

I've never worked directly on any of the Kodak i200 series
unfortunately. But, other than the firewire, they should be very
similar to other low-volume document image scanners out there..

hope that helps...

for the WIA service verification, it's probably much easier to
1. goto START | RUN
2. type services.msc
3 double click windows imaging acquisition service (WIA)
etc...

hope this helps...
