Kodak EasyShare Video to Windows Movie Maker

My daughter needs to make a movie for school and the only video recorder we
have is on our Kodak Digital Camera. Microsoft Movie Maker makes a much
better video, but it won't accept the .mov file extension. Can I just change
the extension? If so, how???? If not, can I change anything on my EasyShare
setup to make the extension automatically go to mpg or anything else so that
we can use Movie Maker? The editting on EasyShare videos is so sloppy and
they won't be able to play it at school without loading Easyshare software to
their computer.

As you have discovered, QuickTime .mov
files are not compatible with Movie Maker.
The best conversion tool is probably the
retail version of Apple QuickTime Pro.

Beyond that...maybe the following links will
offer some ideas:

Thank you, John. For some reason I couldn't get the RAD tools to work. I
installed the necessary Quicktime update, but when I hit the convert key
after typing in my file name the whole shebang just disappeared. (3 different
tries.) No window came up asking me for file type or anything. And no file
was converted. Right now I'm working with SmartSoft Video Converter and it
converted the files but seems to be cutting them off at the end. I'm still
working on why. If that doesn't work I'll try option 3. Thanks! I'm sure the
RADtools would work if I requested online help. I just want this project
done! I've burnt 3 batches of cookies figuring this out...But, your advice
was wonderful! Thanks again!!! Hope everyone else reads your advice. My
advice to them: check out SmartSoft first. It is a little clumsier and you'll
need to eventually buy it, but it works with the system components you
already have.

Hopefully this is my last post, I've replied to your post a couple times,
each learning something new. If you Google Covert Video you get a ton of
software. I tried WinMPG Videos, avs4youvideo, SmartSoft Video Converter and
NCH Software Prism. All of these had strengths and weaknesses. For your
dollar and time, NCH Software - Prism is the absolute best. They let you use
the software for free in hopes of selling you something else BUT they are one
of the few who don't put a watermark on your videos when you take the "free
trial." Kind of useless but I understand the market. Thanks again. Your
suggestions led me down all the right roads and now I'll have happy 13 year
old girls with a great video for their project. (I hope I get some sort of
credit for this. It's 1:14 AM and I've been at this since around 8:30!) So,
to all, try Prism is my recommendation!
