I have what appears to be a hardware fault with the Kodak 8650PS printer.
There are two problems indicated on the lcd display, which may be related.
It either shows service error 708, or "clear ribbon jam". The ribbon
does not appear jammed and it does move forward and backward during some
form of power on self test, and a green led behind the ribbon is lit. It
seems to be part of a ribbon sensor assembly. This is all I know about this
beast other than it apparently ran fine for 5 years or so.

Can anyone help with this printer issue? Repair options? Suggestions? Parts?
Experiance? Does anyone have hardware manuals available?

Thanks in advance,
Joe

With the 8650's selling used for $500 or less these days it's most likely not
worth fixing. If you need the PostScript features then it will be harder to
find a used one. I would call Kodak at 800-242-2424 amd see if their excellent
tech support can give you any ideas. Aside from that, even shipping the 60+lb
machine to NY and back will cost a bit.
I have an 8670PS that I no longer use so if your interested in upgrading drop
me a note.
