In my logs I am getting "Event ID 2021 & 2022". The Microsoft Knowledge
Base Article - 317249 explains that there can be registry changes that might
imporve performance. My problem is that I am using an XP machine as a file
server, and not running a true server. The article is directions for a
Server and not for an XP computer.

My question is, will these registry changes work on an XP computer

TIA

Kevin

Are you getting any of the errors in the event log
mentioned in that article?
If so, what errors are showing in the event log?

Yes, we have anti-virus running because the user of that computer receives
email. The a/v is only checking email and not the entire computer (I
think-if i remember right, good point to recheck) Everything worked great
when we all were running MS 98 and accessing his computer. When we all
upgraded to XP, the problems started. We have been dealing with this for 6
months now, but the boss is getting upset of all the lost worktime. The
computer is used as a workstation also, running MS Office programs, email
and AutoCAD 2002. I have been told there is a way to backup only the
registry, is that true? And how easy is it to reinstall if the changes cause
more harm than good?
