Klaus demo'd 3.4 at Linux-Tag. He's holding out on us. }:O)

Does anyone know when it might make a public appearance?

Do you think my German c't CDrom with Knoppix 3.4 on it (issued February
9th) is a demo?

But I couldn't see any substantial changes, except for the menu
structure (which might be due to the preferences of heise.de)

Here's a posting from the Knoppix forum:

.... 3.4 won't be "officially" released until after the Cebit
conference (March 18 - 24). So unless somone in German wants to get a
copy of it from the magazine and put up a bit torrent link somewhere
(hint hint), we won't be getting it for a while... .

I can't tell since I do not read German. Maybe you can tell from this?

The C't Version of Knoppix 3.4 is a regular LiveCD from what I've read
(ie. a fully functional system running off the CD and installable to
hdd), but my impression is that it differs substantially in content
from the upcoming Knoppix 3.4 release from Knopper himself.

Thanks Achim.

Okay, "dumb question" time. This appear to be a 716MB ISO. Aren't
most CDs a max of 650MB in size ?

Regards, John.

Most are 700 today but ISO sizes are misleading, when you burn it it
will fit on a 700meg CD

No problem, you can burn it on any 700MB/80min. CD.
As long as you instruct your burner-software to "close"
the disk hereafter.
I made 6 copies of different versions :-)), they work all fine.
HTH.

1 m = 1024 b * 1024 k = 1,048,576
700 -> 734,003,200
800 -> 838,860,800
900 -> 943,718,400

Thanks Charles, though I don't know why "closing" the disk has
anything to do with things.

HTH.

It does. :-)
